Rep. Bob Goodlatte was back in the Valley Monday to hear from local business leaders.

The annual luncheon was a chance for community leaders to share their concerns with the congressman.

Several showed up at Gavid's restaurant in Waynesboro to voice their opinions.

Business owners especially were anxious to let the congressman know how the recent credit crisis has been affecting their customers and their business. Some said it's much more difficult for customers to get a loan, and that is slowing down sales.

"We'd like to hire people, and we'd like to prosper and do like all the rest of the folks have done in the past, but with credit locked up, it's impossible to succeed," said John Swett, owner of Ace Hardware and Marine.

The congressmen agreed that getting credit right now is difficult and like many business owners, blamed too much government regulation. He said that's something the government needs to change.
