- Congressman Goodlatte has worked to help protect the Chesapeake Bay. Through his efforts, he was able to secure $150 million in new funding which directs the Secretary of Agriculture to develop a comprehensive plan for restoring, preserving, and protecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed starting with the Susquehanna, Shenandoah, Patuxent, and Potomac Rivers. The program also authorized restoration enhancement and preservation cost-share projects that would help achieve the mutual goals of nutrient reduction and sediment control.
